The region of the lower neck and chest, called the décolleté, as well as the hands are important area of aesthetic focus that are often overlooked. The skin of these regions is easily damaged by UV rays and other environmental factors, leaving an array of brown spots, wrinkles, rough and leathery skin behind. Visible signs of sun damage appear around age 30-35 and without intervention become severe by age 50. The sooner we treat these areas, the better the cosmetic outcome.
The gentle nature of the skin in the neck, chest and hands necessitates that we chose aesthetic treatments very carefully. Until recently there were no safe treatment options and attempts to rejuvenate these regions could result in complications. This has changed!
In the hands of experienced physicians, there are now several technologies with proven safety and efficacy to treat the skin of the chest, neck and hands. They include Cooltouch and Fraxel laser . The choice of technology to be utilized depends on the nature of the conditions being treated, the skin type and other factors. Sometimes we use several devices in combination to achieve best results. Dermal fillers such as Radiesse and Juvederm are used to replace lost volume in the hands, making veins less noticeable and taking years off the appearance of the hands.

Fraxel Laser

The Fraxel laser is an exciting new technology that resurfaces the neck, chest and hands, improving the tone and texture of the skin in the region. Improvements in sun and age spots, as well as fine lines and wrinkles and softening will be quite noticeable after a series of very comfortable treatments.

Dermal Fillers

Fillers such as Radiesse and Restylane are used to replace lost volume in the hands, making the veins less noticeable and greatly improving the overall appearance.

Dermal Fillers are popular products used to treat folds and creases on the face caused by loss of volume and hollowing in the skin due to the aging process, effects of gravity and repetitive facial muscle activity. They are also used to augment the size and shape of the lips(Lip Augmentation). This is in contrast to BOTOX Cosmetic® which directly treats the overactive muscles.
As we age, it’s like slowly deflating a balloon, leaving creases and folds, (such as the nasolabial folds) and skin with no where to go. In the past there were no effective treatments to reverse this process. Dermal fillers represent a non invasive way to address this issue of volume loss, filling the void under the skin and erasing creases. The results are a natural, more youthful look, with softer facial contours and a healthier appearance.
There are a plethora of Dermal Fillers available today, each with specific uses and advantages. The competence and aesthetic vision of the physician who will be injecting the product is critical in ensuring that the end result of the procedure will produce an enjoyable, natural looking result.
It is important to seek care from a practitioner who is comfortable injecting all of the fillers, such as Restylane, Juvederm and Radiesse, not someone who dabbles in the field, so the treatment can be tailored to your needs.

Fillers:

Restylane is the most well known dermal filler in the United States, known for its safety, efficacy and longstanding results. Restylane is made out of Hyaluronic acid which closely resembles the same substance that occurs naturally in the body. Restylane will immediately soften lines and wrinkles seen with aging (such as the nasolabial folds) and enhance natural features such as the lips or cheeks. Restylane is injected with a very fine needle during a comfortable procedure that requires no downtime. Because Restylane does not contain any animal-derived ingredients, no skin test is required. Restylane lasts 6-12 months. Juvederm Ultra™ and Juvederm Ultra Plus are fillers consisting of a smooth gel that when injected help to instantly restore your skin's volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds such as the nasolabial folds—the creases that run from the bottom of the nose to the corners of the mouth). Juvederm is made of Hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps to hydrate and add volume to the skin. The hyaluronic acid in Juvederm supplements the body’s natural supply of this substance. Juvederm comes in two formulations, Juvederm Ultra and Ultra Plus. The latter formulation is more robust, giving us the ability to better treat deeper folds and wrinkles. It may last a bit longer as well. Juvederm can last up to one year. Perlane® is injectable dermal filler that has been used to soften wrinkles and facial folds (such as the nasolabial folds) of patients across the world since 2000, getting FDA approval in the U.S. in 2007. It is a a great choice for lip augmentation and for treating facial depressions and scarring as well. Perlane® is made from a non-animal derived hyaluronic acid gel. Since hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the skin and other tissue, there is no need for a skin test when using Perlane. The results of a Perlane® filler treatment last from 6-12 months. Radiesse is safe and effective, next generation dermal filler used for the correction of facial lines, wrinkles and folds, as well as facial contouring, It provides more longevity than any of the other leading dermal fillers on the market today. Radiesse is FDA approved for cosmetic use and is well known for immediate satisfaction and long term results of 12-15 months.
Radiesse is made of unique calcium-based microspheres that are suspended in a natural gel that is injected into the skin during a minimally invasive procedure.
Radiesse actually stimulates new tissue development which is the basis for it ability to create extended correction.
